ROLE SUMMARY

Do you enjoy partnering with commercial leaders to shape high-value deals, influence business decisions and drive commercial performance? As Director, Finance Commercial Operations, we will look to you to lead the Commercial Operations agenda for Sales & Account Management (SAM), partnering with regional commercial leaders, deal teams and business divisions to support growth, profitability and strong customer outcomes. We work closely with our commercial teams to provide financial oversight on customer deals, ensuring decisions align with business objectives, pricing frameworks, licensing models, commercial policy and regulatory requirements.

The role plays a central part in deal governance, providing recommendations on deal structures, approvals, risk considerations and commercial outcomes while working across Legal, Product, Tax, Order Management, Compliance, Credit Management and Commercial Policy to help ensure agreements are practical, commercially sound and executable. We are committed to creating consistency in how commercial decisions are made across our markets. This role supports the interpretation and application of commercial policies, manages exceptions and helps deliver global initiatives locally. It also leads annual price increase activity, balancing customer needs with commercial objectives to maximise value and performance.

Working closely with Sales & Account Management teams, the successful candidate will help strengthen negotiation strategies, financial outcomes and deal quality while supporting improvements to commercial processes, governance materials and team capability. In addition to its commercial responsibilities, this role provides leadership for a geographically dispersed team of approximately 17 professionals located across multiple regions. The successful candidate will create a collaborative and high-performing environment, setting clear priorities, supporting professional development and ensuring consistent execution across locations.

WHAT YOU'LL BRING

We are looking for a commercially minded leader with the judgement to balance growth, profitability, risk and customer outcomes in complex situations. Success in this role requires the ability to influence senior stakeholders, build alignment across Finance, Sales, Product, Legal and Operations, and translate complex information into clear, practical recommendations. Strong collaboration, attention to detail and sound decision-making are essential. We value individuals who take ownership, build strong relationships across teams and geographies, and look for opportunities to simplify processes and improve outcomes.

The successful candidate will also be an experienced people leader with a proven ability to lead, motivate and develop large, geographically dispersed teams. They will be comfortable managing performance, coaching individuals at different stages of their careers, navigating complex stakeholder environments and creating alignment across regions. The ability to build trust, promote collaboration and maintain engagement within a global matrix organisation will be critical to success.

KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS

A strong understanding of commercial finance, deal governance, pricing, profitability analysis and business performance drivers is essential. Experience reviewing and approving complex customer deals, including commercial exceptions, licensing considerations, contractual terms and risk trade-offs, will be highly valued. Strong analytical, financial modelling and Excel skills are also important, alongside the ability to interpret large volumes of commercial and performance data. Strong people leadership experience is equally important.

Candidates should demonstrate success leading multi-location teams within global organisations, managing resources effectively, balancing competing priorities and developing talent at scale. The ability to create an inclusive culture, drive accountability, enhance team capability and lead through change will be highly valued.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

Degree in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Engineering, Business or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience. Significant experience in Finance, Commercial Operations, Sales Finance, Commercial Policy, Strategy, Deal Desk, Legal, Product, Order Management or a similar commercial environment, with a track record of influencing senior partners and supporting complex business decisions. Significant experience operating within global, matrixed organisations and leading geographically dispersed teams. This should include performance management, coaching, workforce planning, capability development, succession planning and escalation management.

Demonstrated success leading larger teams across multiple locations, creating high-performing and engaged environments while delivering consistent operational and commercial outcomes.
