A new visionary Non-Executive Director is now sought with a strong track record in commercial expansion, destination growth and market engagement to drive innovative approaches to revenue generation to support the creation of a dynamic destination with London Stadium at its heart.
This appointment comes at a pivotal time for London Stadium, offering a rare and exciting opportunity to join its Board during a period of dynamic change. As a Board member, you will be setting strategic direction, providing leadership and support to the leadership team, as well as monitoring performance and corporate governance.
Key responsibilities and requirements include:
- Provide entrepreneurial leadership of the London Stadium operating within its overall statutory framework.
- Provide prudent and effective controls and high standards of corporate governance and financial management.
- Steer capital structure and partnerships (public/private JV, lenders, sponsors), ensuring the realisation of a best-in-class place vision and best value for London Stadium and the public purse.
- Review the performance of the Stadium Chief Executive.
The Person
The successful candidate will help shape the future of the organisation by offering strategic advice and support to the senior leadership team. Independence, impartiality, together with professional integrity and gravitas are essential.
- Senior leadership of large, complex organisations, ideally within the venues, stadia or leisure sectors.
- Outstanding commercial acumen with a proven track record of delivering significant revenue growth.
- A strong understanding of Non-Executive leadership, delivering results within a complex operating environment.
- Senior leadership in complex governance structures and demonstrable track record of credibly engaging with key stakeholders and agencies across the public and private sector.
- An understanding and awareness of the political context and dynamics in which the Board operates.
- Vision-led yet pragmatic, inclusive, and credible in public forums; excels at multi-party negotiation and transparent communication.
- Senior leadership in public/private commercial partnerships, including development JVs and other vehicles as well as proven ability to attract investment is advantageous.
- Ability to take an independent view when judgements are required.
- A strategic, inclusive, collaborative, and collegiate leadership style.
- Highly developed interpersonal and communications skills.
- Ability to command the respect of their peers and leaders in their field.
Remuneration and Time Commitment
Board Members receive an annual salary of £16,000. The time commitment for this appointment is expected to be approximately 2 days per month.
