About the Role & Team
The Health & Safety Advisor’s main objective is to work with, support, coach and mentor project operations teams in all aspects of the SHE framework to ensure the company’s operations are executed at all times in such a manner as to ensure, so far as is reasonably practicable, the protection of the Environment, the Health, Safety and Welfare of all employees any others who may be affected by its operations.
Note this role requires use of own car to travel to project sites across the South region and occasional travel to our head office in Uxbridge.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain close communications with the Health & Safety Manager, advising of any known serious negative impacts such as (but not limited to), resource issues, accidents, incidents or poor site conditions as quickly as possible.
- Review compliance with the SHE Management framework ensuring it is successfully adopted and embedded throughout all sites visited and inspected.
- Ensure SHE reports provide clear and concise explanations of findings supported by photographic evidence (physical conditions) and the report is discussed with the Site Manager before issuing it and leaving site.
In some instances, to inform the Health & Safety Manager before issuing a Non‑Compliant site report.
- Support Operational teams with ‘High Risk’ Safe System of Work reviews.
Ensure other Safe Systems of Work are being evaluated and reviewed as per company procedures so far as reasonably practicable.
- Monitor and review physical activities on site to ensure compliance with Safe Systems of Work and safe working practices so far as reasonably practicable.
- Ensure SHE reports provide clear and concise explanations of findings supported by photographic evidence (physical conditions) and the report is discussed with the Site Manager before issuing it and leaving site.
In some instances, to inform the Health & Safety Manager before issuing a Non‑Compliant site report.
Key Skills & Experience
- Experience in the construction industry as a SHE Advisor, residential construction - preferred
- Excellent communication and influencing skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
- Strong knowledge of UK health and safety legislation and best practices.
- NEBOSH Health & Safety Construction Certificate - required
- Full UK Driving Licence and ability to travel to multi sites in the South region.
