London Sperm Bank, the UK’s largest HFEA-licensed sperm bank, is recruiting a Clinical Andrologist to join our laboratory team. This role is central to delivering safe, high-quality donor sperm services and supporting individuals and couples on their journey to parenthood.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform semen analysis, diagnostic assessments, and post-thaw evaluations
  • Prepare sperm samples for cryopreservation and patient treatment
  • Carry out routine cryogenic procedures: tank monitoring, dry shipper preparation, and vial transfers
  • Conduct vial quality control: labelling, quantity checks, and documentation
  • Manage donor sample pickups and returns, maintaining full chain-of-custody records
  • Accurately complete all quality control checks and escalate anomalies appropriately
  • Maintain high standards of cleanliness and equipment care in the laboratory
  • Participate in ongoing training, competency assessments, and annual proficiency reviews
  • Support SOP reviews, stock checks, and laboratory administrative tasks
  • Contribute to weekend and on-call rota coverage as required

Person Specification:

  • Strong attention to detail, reliability, and professional integrity
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a regulated clinical setting
  • Proactive, well-organised, and capable of managing competing priorities

Essential Qualifications & Experience:

  • Minimum BSc (Hons) in Life Sciences or related discipline
  • Practical laboratory experience
  • Understanding of gamete biology and cryopreservation principles
  • Familiarity with the Human Fertilisation and Embryology Act and HFEA Code of Practice

Desirable:

  • 1–2 years' experience in a fertility or clinical andrology setting
  • IBMS Registration Portfolio completed or in progress (desirable)
  • HCPC registration (advantageous but not essential)
  • Experience working within quality management systems and regulated laboratory environments
