About The Role

We are currently developing our talent pool for our Airport Fire Service. While there are no immediate vacancies within the team, successful applicants will be added to our talent pool for up to six months. During this time, you will be prioritised for permanent full‑time opportunities as they arise. Our Fire Service plays a crucial role in keeping London Southend safe. You will be positioned at the heart of our airport and will work as a team to quickly respond to a wide range of incidents.

Salary: up to £40,428.00 per annum.

Key Responsibilities

  • In the event of an emergency situation, undertake the role requirements of a Firefighter as identified in CAP 699 (Competence of Rescue and Fire Fighting Service Personnel).
  • Undertake both watchroom and operations duties to maintain the effectiveness and safety of the airfield.
  • Respond to emergency situations both on and off the airport in line with company and industry regulations & procedures to save life and protect property.
  • Operate and maintain all airside operations and wildlife control vehicles & equipment.
  • Assist with station maintenance improvements.
  • Deploy and appropriately use equipment and facilities.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

  • Able to attend a 5‑week residential initial Firefighter course at a selected training provider.
  • Hold a full UK driving licence (no provisional licence).
  • Meet London Southend Airport Fire Service medical standard.
  • Meet and maintain London Southend Airport Fire Service physical fitness standards.
  • Basic IT knowledge.
