About the role

As an Air Traffic Engineer at London Southend Airport, I am responsible for all planned and reactive maintenance of the airport’s air traffic management systems. My goal is to ensure that the airport operates seamlessly each day. I will be responsible for ensuring that all planned and reactive work on ATS/CNS equipment is completed. I will be responsible for ensuring that all ATS/CNS equipment is serviced and maintained in accordance with (UK) EU373/CAP670. I will be responsible for updating the Asset Management System. I will support schedule and reactive maintenance on other systems that support the operation. I will be responsible for ensuring all records are maintained and kept up to date. I will take full ownership of operational issues when they occur, ensuring they are actioned appropriately and handled in a timely and safe manner. I will fully embody the Airports ‘One Team’ culture and understand that there may be times when I am required to undertake other activities to support the needs of the business. I understand that the Airport is in operation 24/7 so I may be scheduled and expected to work any shift during operating hours, this will include early mornings, late nights, weekends, and bank holidays.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

This role is crucial in ensuring our airport operates smoothly, efficiently, and safely. We are looking for the successful candidate to have key knowledge and experience:

  • I have previous experience working in Air Traffic Engineering.
  • I hold or have previously held a UK PTC group rating for the following: ILS, DME, NDB, PSR, SSR, Radar Displays, RT Comms Air/Ground, RT Comms Ground/Ground, Recorder Systems R/T, Recorders Systems, IRVR, CCTV, General Data Processing.
  • I hold or have previously held a PTC Equipment Rating at level 2 for the following equipment: Leonardo ATCR-33SE Radar, Chelton (Cobham) RDS1600, Normarc 7000 ILS, Fernau 2020 DME, Nautel NDB VR125, Frequentis 3020 VCCS, Frequentis RESQ (Emg VCCS), Jotron VHF Tx Rx, UHF Tx/Rx, Ricochet Recorder, Telvent IRVR.
  • I hold a level 3 in communication/electronic engineering or comparable/allied discipline.

Although not essential, we would love it if you held:

  • Aeronautical Ground Lighting Technician.
  • Aeronautical Ground Lighting Authorised Person.
  • Technical Skills Assessor.
