About the role: As Security Training Manager, I play an integral part in ensuring our security operation is delivered compliantly across the airport. Working with my team of trainers, I will develop and deliver training material that will be delivered in accordance with CAA/DfT procedures and UK SCD Syllabus.

Key Responsibilities:

  • I will be accountable for the monitoring and maintaining of the training schedule & matrix of the security team.
  • Using the training matrix, I will perform regular needs analysis to highlight upcoming renewal requirements.
  • I will develop and maintain the training improvement plan for the team.
  • I will assist with the SEMS process, with the goal of improving compliance, productivity and customer experience.
  • I will develop and maintain relationships with all key regulatory bodies such as DfT and CAA.
  • I will continually monitor and develop the CAA/DfT Training syllabus to ensure the airport training material reflects up to date regulation.
  • I will work with the training team to develop and deliver all initial and recurrent GSS & GSO courses, ‘on the job’ training, DNXCT training, computer-based AVSEC training and GSAT training.
  • I will monitor the overall security standards and AVSEC compliance to ensure the airport meets regulatory requirements.
  • Working with the security management team, I continuously monitor the operational environment, making swift decisions to support with the overall efficiency of the operation.
  • I will deliver ad-hoc training courses as required.
  • I will manage, oversee and develop the covert/overt testing programme in partnership with 3rd parties and CAA.
  • I will be responsible for conducting internal audits based around the 13 chapters of the SCD(A).
  • I will be responsible for the monthly review of DNXCT requirements for the security teams and the oversight and management of TIP/TIRT data.
  • I will be accountable for carrying out ‘threat assessments’ in the event of any potential security threats.
  • I will respond to operational requirements within security to ensure needs are met, understanding this may mean adjusting training needs where necessary.
  • I will fully embody the Airports ‘One Team’ culture and understand that there may be times when I am required to undertake other activities to support the needs of the business.
  • I understand that the Airport is in operation 24/7 so I may be scheduled and expected to work any shift during operating hours, including early mornings, late nights, weekends, and bank holidays.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise:

This is a critical role within our airport, therefore there are some very specific qualifications and experience you must hold in order to undertake the duties:

  • I have experience successfully leading a team.
  • I am a strong communicator.
  • I currently hold valid Ground Security Supervisor (GSS) and Ground Security Operative (GSO) qualifications.
  • I am a qualified ‘Train the Trainer’.
  • I hold a CAA Certified Instructor Number (CIN) and have recent experience of delivering AVSEC training.
  • I hold a full UK driving licence.

Although the below are not requirements to start the role, it would be advantageous if you held the below qualifications. Successful applicants who do not currently hold these qualifications will be trained:

  • Valid Security Manager Level 3.
  • Valid DfT recognition of firearms and explosives (RFX) qualification.
