About the role

As Commis Chef at London Southend Airport, I contribute to the smooth running of the kitchen by passionately taking responsibility of my own section. I excel at working in a fast-paced, high-volume environment and take pride in delivering exceptional meals to our guests.

Key Responsibilities:

  • I will be responsible for my own section of the kitchen.
  • I will prepare, cook, and present dishes to a high standard.
  • I will work collaboratively with my fellow kitchen team members to ensure our smooth service remains consistent.
  • I will be responsible for supervising and supporting the junior chefs, including Commis Chefs and Kitchen Assistant.
  • I will be responsible for maintaining excellent food hygiene and safety standards.
  • I will assist with the stock control, ordering and stock levels.
  • I will be responsible for preparing all mise en place in advance.
  • I will fully embody the Airports ‘One Team’ culture and understand that there may be times when I am required to undertake other activities to support the needs of the business.
  • I understand that the Airport is in operation 24/7 so I may be scheduled and expected to work any shift during operating hours, this will include early mornings, late nights, weekends, and bank holidays.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

There are just a handful of skills you need in order to undertake this role, everything else we can teach you, if you can answer yes to all of the below requirements you have the required skills:

  • I have previous experience as a Chef de Partie, or similar.
  • I have a passion for delivering high-quality food.
  • I have strong attention to detail.
  • I have knowledge of food safety, hygiene and allergen regulations.
  • I am a strong, confident communicator and can effectively liaise with my team members.
  • I have the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, and sometimes high-pressured environment.
