Our Air Traffic Services team play an essential part in maintaining the safe, orderly and expeditious flow of air traffic at our airport. As an Air Traffic Control Assistant, you will provide support to the Air Traffic Control Officers on duty to maintain the effective running of the service. If you are successful in this role there may be opportunities to develop and train as an Air Traffic Control Officer in the future.
Below are the day-to-day responsibilities:
- I will monitor and action ATC emails.
- I will answer and process the ATC telephones.
- I will process AFTN (Aeronautical Fixed Telecommunication Network) messages.
- I will complete movement logs.
- I will process the Flight Progress Strip.
- I will manage the bookings for circuit flights, instrument flight training and other flights.
- I will prepare and publish Meteorological Observations.
- I will act as a guide to visitors to the ATC Tower.
- I will fully embody the Airports ‘One Team’ culture and understand that there may be times when I am required to undertake other activities to support the needs of the business.
- I understand that the Airport is in operation 24/7 so I may be scheduled and expected to work any shift during operating hours, this will include early mornings, late nights, weekends.
