About the role
As Commis Chef at London Southend Airport, I contribute to the smooth running of the kitchen by passionately taking responsibility for my own section. I excel at working in a fast‑paced, high‑volume environment and take pride in delivering exceptional meals to our guests.
Key Responsibilities
- I will be responsible for my own section of the kitchen.
- I will prepare, cook, and present dishes to a high standard.
- I will work collaboratively with my fellow kitchen team members to ensure our smooth service remains consistent.
- I will supervise and support the junior chefs, including Commis Chefs and Kitchen Assistants.
- I will maintain excellent food hygiene and safety standards.
- I will assist with stock control, ordering and stock levels.
- I will prepare all mise en place in advance.
- I will fully embody the Airport’s ‘One Team’ culture and understand that there may be times when I am required to undertake other activities to support the needs of the business.
- I understand that the Airport operates 24/7, so I may be scheduled and expected to work any shift during operating hours, including early mornings, late nights, weekends and bank holidays.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
- Previous experience as a Chef de Partie or similar.
- Passion for delivery of high‑quality food.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Knowledge of food safety, hygiene and allergen regulations.
- Strong, confident communicator able to liaise effectively with team members.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced, sometimes high‑pressured environment.
