The Role
We are seeking a skilled and motivated English Lecturer to join a high‑performing English 16‑18 curriculum team as part of a 1 year fixed‑term Maternity Cover, ending July 1st 2027. You will deliver engaging and inclusive teaching across a broad ability range, from Entry Level 3/Level 1 through to GCSE. Working in close partnership with the Curriculum Manager, you will contribute to the continued growth and quality improvement of the English provision, ensuring consistently strong outcomes for all learners.
This role requires a lecturer who combines subject expertise with a strong commitment to raising aspirations. You will support learners from diverse backgrounds to achieve their academic, career and personal goals, while contributing to a culture of high expectations and continuous improvement.
In addition, you will actively promote the English curriculum area through engagement in marketing and recruitment events, representing the department with professionalism and enthusiasm.
Skills and Experience
- Degree in English related subject
- Proven experience in teaching within Further Education and/or relevant industry experience
- A recognised teaching qualification for the FE sector
- A minimum of Level 2 literacy and numeracy (GCSE or equivalent)
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to engage and motivate diverse groups of learners
- Effective organisational and administrative skills to maintain accurate student records and support high standards of compliance
