We are looking for an ambitious and curious individual to join us as an Assistive Technology Officer Degree Apprentice. This role sits at the heart of our work to ensure every learner can access and benefit fully from their education, regardless of need or background. You will develop practical, in‑demand digital and technical skills while studying toward a BSc (Hons) in Digital & Technology Solutions. You will apply those skills in a real environment, supporting students and staff across the College to use assistive technologies effectively and confidently.

From day one, you will be involved in meaningful work: you will help maintain and develop specialist software and equipment, support colleagues with technical issues, and contribute to projects that improve accessibility across our systems and learning environments. You will also play a role in creating training materials and delivering workshops, helping others understand and adopt tools that make a genuine difference. This is not a purely technical role. It requires someone who is interested in people as much as systems. You will work closely with teaching staff, learning support teams and IT colleagues, acting as a bridge between technology and the classroom. You will also build relationships with external partners and stay up to date with developments in accessibility and inclusive technology.

We are looking for someone who is organised, proactive and willing to learn. You will have a foundation in ICT and a genuine interest in how technology can remove barriers to learning. You will be comfortable working independently when needed, but equally able to collaborate and contribute as part of a wider team. In return, you will benefit from a structured and supportive learning environment, with opportunities to attend conferences, training and industry events. You will gain both a recognised degree qualification and the practical experience to build a strong career in digital, education or inclusion‑focused roles.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain, configure and troubleshoot assistive technology hardware and software.
  • Provide technical support to teaching staff, learners and external partners.
  • Develop and manage accessibility projects across teaching platforms.
  • Produce training materials and deliver workshops to promote inclusive technology use.
  • Liaise with external partners and stay current on best practice in assistive technology.

Qualifications

  • Foundation in ICT and a genuine interest in inclusive technology.
  • Strong organisational and proactive mindset.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Willingness to learn and develop new technical skills.

Benefits

  • Access to an Employee Assistance Programme
  • Cycle to work scheme
  • Annual season ticket loan
  • Access to the Discounts for Teachers portal
  • Free Wi‑Fi access worldwide via Eduroam
  • Access to our on‑site gym and discounts at local gyms
  • Discounts at in‑house restaurants and on hair and beauty treatments
