We are hiring a Cook Supervisor! Are you passionate about catering and dedicated to making a positive difference for young people? Come join our caring team at East Sussex Academy (part of the London South East Academies Trust). We are looking for an enthusiastic, organized individual to lead our kitchen team, prepare delicious meals, and maintain top‑notch food standards.

Key Details

  • Salary: From £11,701 pa actual (LSEAT Harmonised Scale 13 to 15)
  • Hours: 20 hours per week (4 hours per day)
  • Schedule: 39 weeks, Term‑Time Only (Enjoy your school holidays)
  • Locations: East Sussex Academy sites (Newhaven, Eastbourne, Hastings)
  • Responsible to: Headteacher / Deputy Headteacher

What You’ll Do

  • Order, prepare, cook, and serve high‑quality food to Trust standards
  • Supervise, guide, and train your kitchen team
  • Manage stock control, food rotation, and minimise wastage
  • Complete daily temperature records, monitoring, and cleaning schedules
  • Act as a positive, welcoming brand ambassador for the school

Who We’re Looking For

  • A team player with excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Someone with an NVQ Level 1 or 2 qualification (and working towards Level 3)
  • Knowledge of COSHH, PPE, and food handling safety practices
  • A patient, resilient, and dedicated professional who enjoys working in a school environment
  • A satisfactory Enhanced DBS and Barred List check are essential for this safeguarding‑regulated role
