It’s an important time to join London South Bank University (LSBU) Group. With the launch of our new LSBU Group Strategy, Connecting, we’re shaping the future of tertiary education for a global, technology-driven economy – rooted in London. Professional and technical education has been central to LSBU Group’s mission since our founding in 1892. Today, as London’s first integrated tertiary education group, we continue to lead the way on learner‑centred, skills‑focused education.

The School of Computer Science and Digital Technologies is recruiting a Senior Lecturer in Game Design and Development. You will help shape our new BA (Hons) Game Design and Development course, teach across it, and lead a research programme of your own. Game Design and Development sits inside a computer science school. Our BA runs alongside degrees in AI, data science, cyber security and software engineering, taught by the same School, and we would particularly welcome someone who will make that adjacency count.

You will be expected to publish at a standard that counts towards LSBU’s REF submission, apply for external funding, and supervise doctoral students. Workload is allocated for research accordingly, and you will have support with funding applications. Teaching will run across the BA, from first-year foundations to final-year projects, with scope in future to build new modules around your own expertise. You will work as part of a team, with a real say in how modules develop and how they are taught. We're looking for someone who is passionate about teaching, strives for excellence, and is dedicated to making a positive impact on learners' lives.

What You Will Bring:

  • Hold a PhD in a relevant field: games, computer science, design, digital media or similar.
  • Have an established record of research outputs at a standard that meets REF requirements.
  • Show evidence of securing external research or enterprise funding.
  • Have taught and supervised students in higher education, and be able to design and lead modules on a new course.
  • Bring a commitment to inclusive, accessible and industry-relevant teaching.

In addition to your teaching and learning experience, you will be an established researcher with a record of high-quality outputs and a proven ability to secure research funding. We welcome applications from candidates whose research demonstrates societal impact, and where there is evidence of knowledge exchange, business or community engagement, and national and international collaboration. Experience of doctoral level supervision would also be an advantage.

Benefits:

As a leading Higher Education Institution, LSBU offers staff a highly competitive benefits package including holiday entitlement starting at 35 days per annum, professional development opportunities and flexible working.

The closing date for applications is Sunday 13th September 23.59 pm. Interview/assessment - week commencing 28th September. We are happy to talk flexible working and reasonable adjustments and aim to make our recruitment and selection process accessible to all.

The diversity of LSBU’s staff and students is a source of our strength and the richness of ideas and perspectives that this diversity brings makes LSBU a unique place to work.
