The role
Head of Planning and Performance – a senior leadership position within the Strategy, Planning and Performance (SPP) team responsible for steering the delivery of the Group’s 2030 Connecting Strategy.
- Lead the University’s approach to planning, performance insight, regulatory reporting and risk management.
- Embed an insight‑led culture across the Group, ensuring leaders have access to high‑quality analysis and evidence to support decision‑making, drive improvement and deliver strategic priorities.
- Manage a team of planning, business intelligence and performance professionals and oversee the development of performance frameworks, KPIs, dashboards and management information.
- Coordinate the Group’s business planning cycle, translating strategic objectives into meaningful plans and measurable outcomes across Academic Colleges and Professional Services.
- Handle regulatory reporting, league table analysis, Graduate Outcomes, National Student Survey performance, risk management processes and Board‑level reporting.
- Partner with senior leaders to identify performance trends, conduct deep‑dive analysis and provide actionable insights that support continuous improvement and institutional success.
About You
- Experienced professional in planning, performance and/or business intelligence with a strong track record of using data and insight for organisational decision‑making and strategic planning.
- Proven ability to translate complex data into clear, compelling narratives and influence positive change at the institutional level.
- Excellent analytical and leadership skills, including managing high‑performing teams and delivering complex projects in fast‑paced environments.
- Confident in working with management information systems and data visualisation tools such as Power BI.
- Strong understanding of performance measurement, reporting and continuous improvement methodologies.
- Experience in higher education planning, regulatory reporting and the challenges and opportunities of the sector is highly desirable.
- Skilled at building trusted relationships, fostering collaboration across organisational boundaries and developing a culture where data is accessible, trusted and actively used to improve performance.
