The role
London South Bank University is excited to recruit a Course Support & Enquiry Supervisor within the Student Operations Department. This department engages in various academic collaborative activities at a variety of levels and stages. The team has a strategic, proactive, user‑focused, and fully integrated approach to student operations, providing central support for students throughout their time at the University from admission through to graduation. The role involves managing and developing a range of operations and systems key to the overall functioning of the Registrar’s Department.
The postholder will supervise the day‑to‑day delivery of an effective and efficient service supporting course management, including student enquiries, information, record maintenance, welcome and induction activities. The postholder will coordinate the team to be the “face” of Student Administration, providing a one‑stop service wherever possible by responding to students’ enquiries and working with other Student Administration teams and Professional Service Departments to ensure all queries are answered in a timely manner. The postholder will support and facilitate good communication between stakeholders, often dealing with sensitive and confidential matters in a time‑pressed environment, providing accurate information relating to all areas of course administration, interruptions and withdrawals. The postholder will line‑manage a number of Course Support & Enquiry Officers, assisting with their recruitment, inductions, conducting appraisals, one‑to‑ones, mentoring, training and staff development, and will be responsible for the allocation of their workload and approval of leave.
What You Will Bring
- Practical administration experience working in a higher education setting, supporting and resolving students’ concerns both face‑to‑face and online.
- Experience supervising team members to achieve common goals, and of day‑to‑day allocation of workload and re‑allocation of resources to ensure business continuity.
- Experience maintaining accurate records and using IT systems/software to gather and evaluate data and providing regular reports to key stakeholders.
- Experience developing and maintaining strong working relationships with key stakeholders across the University.
- Ability to use own initiative to plan, prioritise and organise own varied workload in a timely manner, approaching challenges and problems flexibly, creatively and proactively.
- Excellent organisational and administrative skills, with the ability to cope with high volumes of work and support team members during stressful periods in the academic year calmly and efficiently.
