About the Role

As a Social Worker within the Safeguarding & Support and Court Service, you will play a vital role in protecting children and supporting families to achieve safe and sustainable change. You will hold a varied caseload and undertake statutory social work with children subject to Child in Need and Child Protection plans, as well as public law proceedings, including pre-proceedings, care proceedings and work with children who become Looked After.

This is a role that requires strong analytical skills, sound professional judgement and a clear focus on timeliness, permanence and improved outcomes for children. Key responsibilities include:

• Completing high-quality safeguarding assessments and plans
• Contributing confidently to court processes
• Working closely with legal colleagues and partner agencies
• Managing a varied caseload across Child in Need, Child Protection and public law proceedings
• Supporting children who become Looked After through care proceedings

About the Team

The Safeguarding and Support Service is made up of 7 well-established teams, each led by an experienced Team Manager and supporting up to six social workers. The service is strengthened by close partnership working with a dedicated Parent Capacity Assessment Team and Vulnerable Violence and Exploitation Team, ensuring children and families receive the right support at the right time. You will be joining a supportive service that values reflective practice, learning, and strong multi-agency collaboration.

About you

Haringey is looking for motivated and committed social workers who are passionate about improving the lives of children and families. The successful candidate will bring sound professional judgement, a child-centred approach, and the resilience to thrive in a fast-paced statutory environment. The ideal candidate will:

• Hold a recognised social work qualification and current registration with Social Work England
• Have a minimum of 12 months' post-qualification experience, ideally within safeguarding, child protection or court-related work
• Have experience of working collaboratively as part of a team in a proactive, solution-focused environment
• Be able to manage a complex caseload, prioritise effectively and work confidently under pressure
• Demonstrate strong communication skills, with the ability to produce high-quality written work and engage effectively with children, families and professionals
• Demonstrate a child-centred approach, resilience and a commitment to continuous professional development
