About the role
Join Hillingdon's Outstanding Court Service. If you're passionate about building meaningful relationships with children and families and want to work somewhere you can truly make a difference, Hillingdon is the place for you.
Following a recent Ofsted Outstanding judgement, Hillingdon continues to invest in its workforce, creating the conditions for social workers to thrive. Court social workers are active, out in the community, working intensively with children and families and carrying out the kind of investigative assessments that shape decisions about a child's future. No two days will be the same — you'll build strong relationships, drive meaningful change, and be supported to grow every step of the way.
Key responsibilities include:
- Building meaningful, relationship-based practice with children and families
- Being trained in parenting assessments
- Leading and coordinating multi-agency plans that safeguard children and support families
- Being part of the journey to becoming a fully trauma-informed service, supported by a strong and stable leadership team
- Accessing regular supervision, clinical supervision, reflective practice, and extensive professional development opportunities
Why Hillingdon?
At Hillingdon, we are proud of what we've achieved: an Outstanding Ofsted judgement, a stable and experienced permanent leadership team, and a strong culture of support and collaboration. Our social workers tell us that what makes Hillingdon different is the combination of strong leadership, supportive colleagues, and the opportunity to spend meaningful time helping families create lasting change.
About you
Hillingdon is looking for passionate, resilient, and forward-thinking Social Workers who are ready to make a real impact. We know great social work happens when practitioners have the time, support, and stability to focus on families — and we're committed to providing exactly that.
The ideal candidate will:
- Be a qualified Social Worker, registered with Social Work England
- Have experience working in a children's social care setting with a strong understanding of safeguarding and statutory responsibilities
- Be committed to relationship-based and trauma-informed practice
- Be driven to make a difference for children and families
- Be creative, curious, reflective, and always open to learning and improvement
Salary placement will be determined based on qualifications, skills, and experience. Hillingdon Council is committed to creating a diverse, inclusive, and equitable workplace and welcomes applicants from a wide variety of backgrounds. The Council operates a guaranteed interview scheme for candidates with disabilities who meet the essential criteria. This post is subject to an Enhanced DBS check, qualifications check, professional registration check, and five years of referencing. This role is subject to The Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (Amendment) (England and Wales) Order 2019.
