London School of Management Education (LSME) is a Higher Education provider based in East London with niche areas of Business Management, Health and Social Care, Hospitality and Tourism Management, Accounting and Finance and Education. LSME is a forward-thinking, fast-paced, highly innovative college looking to build a team of creative and competent staff. The College is currently seeking a Lecturer to teach modules within the university-validated BSc (Hons) in Business Management programme.
Responsibilities:
- Be fully conversant with the specification and learning materials for the module(s) taught.
- Update the content and/or reading lists for the module(s) taught.
- Attend and participate in induction, staff development programme and other trainings as required.
- Develop a Teaching Scheme to deliver the specified number of Lectures/seminars/workshops as per guidance.
- Develop an assessment strategy for each module for approval by the University.
- Create a marking scheme for each individual assessment for approval by the University.
- Address issues concerning the student learning experience in consultation with the Principal and the Programme Leader.
- Identify students requiring additional support and organise appropriate support.
- Attend to announced and unannounced University visits to observe teaching and co-operate with such visits.
- Provide formative feedback as well as overall summative assessment of student work and keep a record of student achievement.
- Provide a written report at the end of each module taught.
- To be available to meet with the University link tutor, as required.
- Assist in the appointment of a representative from each group of students they teach to provide feedback to the relevant Programme Committees.
- Attend relevant Programme Committee meetings.
- Conform to the Policies and Procedures of LSME and the University in such areas as (but not limited to) equal opportunities, health and safety, etc.
- Participate in internally organised research activities, conferences, seminars, workshops, training programmes, social activities, events etc.
- To undertake other duties commensurate with the pay grade and/or hours of work as may reasonably be required of teaching staff at the same level.
Person Specification:
- Qualifications: A Master’s degree or equivalent in Business Management, Business and Finance, Accounting and Finance or a related field with teaching qualifications.
- Proven experience and skills: Preferably 3 years’ teaching experience of University programmes and working in a Higher Education establishment in the UK. Online/blended teaching skills and experience. ICT skills in MS Office applications, such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams and Outlook are essential. Proficiency in written and spoken English.
- Delivering academic and service excellence: Professional conduct in all interactions with staff and students. Extensive knowledge of relevant subject matter. Attention to detail and accurate reporting. Ability to maintain thorough and organised student records. Punctuality and ability to follow procedures.
- Managing self and inspiring others: Ability to work under pressure, plan and prioritise own workload to meet deadlines. Highly motivated and able to work under minimal supervision. Commitment to self-improvement and open to constructive feedback.
- Working together: Excellent communication skills. Ability to work effectively as part of a team. Ability to work with diverse groups of people.
- Organisational and stakeholder awareness: Good organisational skills. Good time management and punctuality.
- Right to work in the UK: Candidates must be UK residents and have the right to work in the UK.
