This role will work across two departments: the department of Medical Statistics (MSD) and the department of Non-Communicable Disease Epidemiology (NCDE). The successful applicant will be expected to lead, manage and be responsible for all aspects of the administrative coordination and financial management for the departments' research projects. As a key member of the Department and the first point of contact for those projects, the post-holder will provide guidance on their management and administration, from funding costings for application, project set up, management and closure (the complete life cycle), working closely with the Principal Investigators (PIs) and liaising with partner institutions where necessary.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, manage and be responsible for all aspects of administrative coordination and financial management for the departments' research projects.
  • Act as a key member of the Department and the first point of contact for project administration, providing guidance on management and administration from funding costings for applications through project setup, management and closure (the complete life cycle).
  • Work closely with the Principal Investigators (PIs) and liaise with partner institutions where necessary.
  • Provide proactive administrative support for academic research, including monitoring large budgets and preparing accurate costings, projections and reports; use initiative and judgement to solve problems; manage a busy workload; and maintain a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Experience of managing large complex grants would be an advantage.

Qualifications

  • Applicants must possess substantial experience of providing proactive administrative support of academic research, including proven ability to monitor large budgets and prepare accurate costings, projections and reports; ability to use initiative and judgement to solve problems; to manage a busy workload; and to work to a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Experience of managing large complex grants would be an advantage.

Terms

  • The post is full-time 35 hours per week, 1 FTE and fixed-term until 31 March 2028.
  • The post is available from 01 April 2026.

Compensation and Location

  • The salary will be on the LSHTM salary scale, Grade 5 in the range £39,984 - £45,728 per annum pro rata (inclusive of London Weighting).
  • The post will be subject to the LSHTM terms and conditions of service.
  • Annual leave entitlement is 30 working days per year, pro rata for part time staff.
  • In addition to this there are discretionary 'Wellbeing Days'.
  • Membership of the Pension Scheme is available.
  • The post is based in London at Keppel Street, LSHTM.
