Clinical Lecturer in Public Health Medicine (Prevention and Public Health) (ST3-ST5)

Applications are invited for appointment to an NIHR Clinical Lectureship in Public Health Medicine at the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine. The post holder will be expected to develop a portfolio of research, including writing applications for personal fellowship awards to support early independence in their career, under the supervision and mentorship of investigators at LSHTM.

This post is for the trainees who have completed a relevant higher degree that is PhD or MD (original research). You must have submitted your thesis by the time of application and been awarded your higher degree by the post start date. Applicants are only eligible to apply if they have a full 12 calendar months to CCT completion at the start date of this post. Applicants who have less than 12 months to CCT completion are not eligible to apply.

To take up this post, candidates must hold an NTN in Public Health Medicine, have been awarded Faculty of Public Health Diplomate Membership and be at ST3 level or above. NIHR CL posts are only available to medically qualified candidates. This NIHR CL will comprise 50% academic and 50% clinical training for up to 4 years (1.0 WTE). Funding for Less Than Full Time (LTFT) can be extended up to a maximum of 6 years, with a stipulation that the academic component must not fall below 0.33 WTE. The post is full-time and fixed term for four years. The post will be subject to the LSHTM terms and conditions of service and is based in London at LSHTM.

Please note that the grade/s advertised are the grade/s at post start date. This means that applicants must be eligible to train at the advertised grade/s at the start date of the post. Please be aware that trainees are not permitted to repeat training for the purposes of taking up a CL post. As an example, if a post is advertised at ST3 grade, then a current ST3 trainee who is on track to become an ST4 trainee at the post start date would NOT under any circumstances be permitted to take up the CL post at ST3 grade as this would entail repeating training that has already been completed.
