LSE is seeking to appoint a Sustainability Communications & Engagement Manager to join its Sustainability Team, a specialist function within the Estates Division responsible for environmental strategy, communications and performance improvement across LSE's central London campus. The post holder will lead the strategic planning and delivery of LSE's sustainability communications and engagement portfolio, overseeing all major campaigns, institutional messaging and sector visibility.

Working closely with the Head of Sustainability, they will shape and deliver the School's operational sustainability engagement strategy, driving behaviour change, building cross‑campus partnerships and ensuring LSE's sustainability work is visible, credible and impactful. The role includes line management of the Sustainability Communications & Engagement Coordinator, and the post holder will deputise for the Head of Sustainability where appropriate. This is a senior role requiring significant autonomy, strong leadership and the ability to influence across a complex institution. It will suit an experienced communications or engagement professional who is passionate about sustainability and ready to operate at a strategic level.

Qualifications
  • Substantial experience in communications, engagement or behaviour change, with a track record of leading campaigns or programmes at a strategic level, ideally in a sustainability, higher education or public sector context.
  • Experience of line managing or supervising others, with a commitment to developing people and maintaining high standards of output.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, with the confidence to engage senior audiences, build institutional partnerships and represent an organisation externally.
  • Experience overseeing multi‑channel communications, including web, social media, newsletters and events with a clear understanding of brand consistency and audience segmentation.
  • The ability to develop and manage budgets, track KPIs and produce evidence‑based reports for senior committees and governance bodies.
  • A strategic mindset combined with practical delivery capability, comfortable both setting direction and rolling up their sleeves to ensure programmes land well.
  • Genuine commitment to sustainability and an understanding of the behaviour change landscape in a university or similarly complex environment.
