This is a full-time fixed term appointment for nine to twelve months, starting in late November 2026. This could be a secondment opportunity for internal staff.

The Data Science Institute (DSI) is the hub for data science and AI at LSE. The Institute supports interdisciplinary research, hosts a wide programme of events, and facilitates policy engagement and advisory work that places social science expertise at the heart of the design, development, and deployment of AI.

The Communications Manager will play a crucial role in consolidating and growing the Institute’s reputation as a centre for excellence and convening around how new technologies are reshaping our economies, societies and institutions. They will develop and deliver integrated communication activities to share knowledge and raise awareness about the research, public events, engagement activities and policy advisory work carried out both within the institute and by DSI Affiliates from across the School.

They will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the DSI’s social media, website and newsletters as well as working with the DSI communications and events team to support the senior leadership team on strategic communications for larger Institute projects.

Candidates should have:

  • Experience of delivering digital communications across websites, social media and email, including creating engaging multimedia content.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to convey complex information in the most appropriate format
  • Strong copywriting, editing and proofreading skills
  • Experience using AI and digital innovation to improve communications and workflows.

This post is a fixed term maternity cover for between 9 to 12 months. This is a in-person role, and there is a minimum expectation of working three days per week from LSE’s campus, and more if required dependent on business need.

£43,277 to £51,714 per annum inclusive with potential to progress to £55,497 pa inclusive of London allowance
