Join our Team at L&Q: We are looking for a Group Accountant to support the delivery of accurate, timely and compliant financial and regulatory reporting across the L&Q Group. This role plays a key part in Group consolidation, statutory and regulatory reporting, and provides technical accounting support within a large and complex organisation. You will work closely with the Group Financial Reporting team and wider finance stakeholders, contributing to high quality reporting, strong financial control and continuous improvement of Group accounting processes.
Your impact in the role:
- Supporting the monthly and quarterly Group consolidation processes, including management accounts, budget and forecast reporting
- Preparing and reviewing Group level journals, consolidation adjustments and eliminations, ensuring consistency with Group accounting policies
- Maintaining and reviewing intercompany and Group balance sheet reconciliations, ensuring accuracy, completeness and timely resolution of reconciling items
- Assisting with the preparation of statutory financial statements for the Group and significant entities, including supporting external audit processes from interim through to final audit
- Supporting the delivery of regulatory returns (including NROSH and other RSH requirements) and lender trading statements
- Assisting with the preparation and maintenance of the consolidated Group budget and forecast, including overhead allocation and variance analysis
- Providing technical accounting support across the Group, including interpretation and application of FRS 102 and the Housing SORP
- Producing high quality analysis and commentary to explain financial performance and consolidation movements to senior stakeholders
- Supporting the maintenance of robust financial controls, audit trails and process documentation, and contributing to continuous improvement of Group reporting processes
What you’ll bring:
- Experience in Group consolidation and statutory reporting is essential, ideally within a large or complex Group environment.
- Previous experience in external audit or a regulated sector is desirable.
- Qualified Accountant (ACA / ACCA / CIMA) with a strong academic record
- Practical experience of Group consolidation and financial accounting under FRS 102
- Experience in producing statutory accounts for entities and consolidated Group accounts
- Strong experience across core finance activities including management reporting, budgeting, forecasting and year end audit
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to plan, prioritise and deliver against a published timetable
- Strong analytical and numerical skills, with a keen eye for detail and a solid commercial mindset
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with proven ability to work collaboratively and business partner effectively
- Experience in a property, housing or similarly regulated environment is desirable
- Advanced IT skills, particularly Excel, and experience using financial systems
