Our team is committed to delivering accurate diagnostics, compassionate care, and evidence-based practice. We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced Sonographer to join our dynamic team.

Role Summary: We are seeking a dedicated part-time Sonographer with a passion for fetal medicine and women's health. This role will involve performing comprehensive ultrasound scans, including detailed fetal, obstetric, and gynaecology assessments. The successful candidate will have at least 5 years of professional experience, with a minimum of 3 years of practice, ideally within the NHS. This role requires technical proficiency, a strong understanding of genetics and Non-Invasive Prenatal Testing (NIPT), and a commitment to continuous learning. The successful candidate will have to undergo a training programme with our Medical Director - Dr Fred Ushakov. The role is part-time for 2 days a week, including some weekends.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform Ultrasound Scans: Conduct high-quality fetal medicine, obstetric, and gynaecology scans, interpreting and reporting accurately to inform patient care.
  • Understanding of Referral Pathways: Recognise and apply appropriate referral pathways, collaborating with the clinical team for optimal patient outcomes.
  • Skill Development and Technique Improvement: Show a willingness to learn and refine scanning techniques to align with best practices and patient needs.
  • Genetics and NIPT Knowledge: Apply a good understanding of genetics and NIPT to inform clinical decisions and patient discussions.
  • Clinical Outcome Follow-Up: Ensure effective follow-up on clinical outcomes, maintaining continuity of care and supporting patients through their diagnostic journey.
  • Collaboration with Consultants: Work closely with consultant obstetricians and gynaecologists, providing insights and discussing complex cases for comprehensive care.
  • Audit and Quality Assurance: Conduct timely audits to ensure the highest standards of clinical care and adherence to regulatory guidelines.
  • Internal Communication: Maintain excellent communication with both clinical and administrative teams, ensuring smooth patient flow and accurate information sharing.
  • Patient Communication: Deliver information with empathy and clarity, fostering a supportive environment and building trust with patients.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Experience: Minimum 5 years of experience as a Sonographer, preferably at least 3 of those within the NHS.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in fetal medicine, obstetric, fertility and gynaecological scanning.
  • Professional Knowledge: Solid understanding of genetics and NIPT.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with patients and internal teams.
  • Information Technology: Have a good working knowledge of OBGYN specific software such as Astraia.
