The LPFA are seeking an exceptional individual to join the LPFA Board and its Committee, bringing strong expertise in finance, investment, audit, and risk to help guide the Fund’s continued success.
As the largest Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS) provider in London, our Fund was valued at approximately £8 billion as of March 2024. During an exciting time of change within the LGPS, we are committed to delivering a high-quality, cost-effective pension that benefits our roughly 100,000 members and 115 contributing employers, as well as London’s communities and society more broadly.
Although a new member will participate in all areas of the Boards business, we are seeking a candidate with particular expertise in the specific area.
Qualifications and experience
Board member – audit and risk focus
The successful candidate will have significant experience in finance, audit, and risk management at a senior level. They must demonstrate a strong understanding of pension fund governance, financial controls, risk frameworks, and regulatory compliance. Senior-level membership on financial services boards is required, with a proven track record in pension fund oversight, financial reporting, and risk management. Experience of oversight of pension fund administration would be an advantage. Knowledge of the LGPS would be advantageous but is not essential.
This role will sit on the Audit and Risk Committee, ensuring robust financial oversight, risk mitigation, and compliance with regulatory standards.

Remuneration
£17,000 per annum for approximately two days per month.
