Description
We are looking for a freelance sub-editor who has strong experience in using CMSs (ideally Sitecore) to ensure the quality, accuracy and readability of our content across website content on visitlondon.com.
As a freelance sub-editor for the Visit London Growth Team, you will ensure the quality, accuracy and readability of our content, which aims to win and convert audiences across a variety of channels. You will play a key role in delivering an income-focused content strategy for visitlondon.com.
Responsibilities
- You will lead on QA, sub-editing content across a range of Visit London channels, including visitlondon.com, email newsletters and the Visit London app. Content may include articles, product listings, blog posts, landing pages and microcopy.
- You will edit to company style and tone documentation to ensure consistency and accuracy within content.
- You will ensure content is optimised for SEO, using recommendations from our SEO Manager and/or from your own keyword research.
- You will make sure content is accessible, meeting best practice guidelines.
- You will sub-edit content directly in our CMS, using a workflow process, ensuring any content that is published is fit for purpose.
- You will also edit or re-write content on Microsoft Word documents, check content changes within our listings database and review content on other channels, such as email newsletters and the Visit London app.
- You will work closely with our Content Executives and Content Managers to ensure you give thorough feedback on any changes, and identify areas for development, to assist the ongoing improvement and efficiency of the content creation processes.
- You will record approved content in relevant documentation as part of the day-to-day sub-editing process.
- You may also be asked to write content yourself, from scratch, or update existing content to ensure content is up to date across our channels. This includes, but is not limited to website listings, articles and landing pages, as delegated by the Content Managers and Content Lead.
Youβll have / bring
- Relevant experience in a similar role
- Ability to sub-edit copy for a range of channels, ensuring accuracy and adherence to style, tone of voice and accessibility guidelines
- Experience of creating and editing content to a consumer audience
- Experience of editing, writing and optimising content for SEO
- Experience of working closely with content experts, giving feedback and recommendations to improve the quality of the output
- Experience in using content management systems (strong preference for Sitecore) and databases β especially in using workflow processes to manage and approve edits
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Word
