Purpose of role

You will recruit high-growth London-based scaleups in Fintech and Cyber Security, ensuring that their business needs and challenges are understood, and then identify, create and deliver appropriate opportunities and support that will enable them to scale and win international business, ultimately leading to jobs created and gross value added (GVA) to their business and the London economy. You will be working with and supporting the Founders/CEOs/C-suite executives at these scaleups and will be required to build trust quickly and move at pace. You will develop and manage key relationships, and create collaboration opportunities internationally, to deliver tangible and appropriate opportunities.

Key Tasks

  • Strategy: You will have responsibility for achieving your targets as agreed with the Senior Trade Manager, but not limited to: Clients Supported, NPS, GVA, New Jobs Created, and International Business Wins. Identify, nurture, and manage engagement with key influencers and stakeholders in the Fintech and Cyber Security ecosystems, internationally and in London, to build London & Partners’ reputation in the ecosystem and for the benefit of the companies and partners we work with.
  • Delivery: Delivering KPIs for London & Partners to contribute towards the overall Directorate target. Provide support to London-based companies on Grow London Global who are seeking to expand their business globally by:
  • Building a credible pipeline of Fintech and Cyber Security scaleups for the programme that meet the programme criteria.
  • Conducting diagnostics with companies to identify barriers and challenges they face when expanding internationally/exporting.
  • Leading in helping scaleups develop the strategic capability and capacity to compete effectively in international markets.
  • Providing knowledge that assists companies in international expansion to new markets.
  • Providing connections to networks, including but not limited to, corporate stakeholders and potential users/buyers, investors and VCs, and strategic partners.
  • Responsible for the delivery of the sector trade missions (delegations) globally: identifying the needs of companies within this sector and their priority target markets and stakeholders, develop curated, high-impact trade mission agendas (potentially) working with colleagues in our market teams to do so, and collaborating with key corporates, investors, and stakeholders in that market. These trade missions (1-2 per year in general) may require travel with the delegation of 10+ scaleups to the international market.
  • Represent the Grow London Global team and London & Partners at business events, where required, and with flexible hours of work as some events are in the mornings and evenings.
  • Ensure all KPIs for the programme are set and measured appropriately to track data and results.
  • Follow London & Partners compliance and project management processes, including accurate recording of data on the CRM and participating companies’ forms in accordance with L&P and GDPR.
  • Undertake any other projects or special assignments which may from time to time be required.
  • You’ll have/bring Skills:

    • Excellent relationship building and management skills - ability to connect, engage and influence corporates, investors, partners, SMEs, business mentors, and colleagues.
    • Creative and critical thinking and problem-solving skills, including the ability to identify and initiate new processes and procedures.
    • Ability to develop innovative ideas and solutions to meet plans, challenges and objectives.
    • Effective, clear, and culturally-flexible communicator in written, verbal, and multi-threaded mediums.
    • Able to manage and deliver complex projects and programmes of work, within available resources, measuring and monitoring performance throughout.
    • Work effectively as part of a team, and autonomously as an individual contributor, including in multicultural settings.
    • Comfortable working at pace with flexibility, across various streams of work concurrently, amidst ambiguity, driven by a strategic and target-driven mentality.
    • IT: Experience using the Microsoft Office suite of products is necessary, and competence using the CRM Salesforce and Docusign would be an advantage.

    Competencies:

    • Good track record of success in managing a portfolio of companies, or equivalent client relationships, and meeting targets.
    • Strong experience delivering business support and understanding of the challenges small-to-medium-sized high-growth businesses face.
    • Excellent understanding of international trade, the challenges businesses encounter when internationalising, and how to support them to overcome those.
    • Knowledge or appreciation of the Fintech and Cyber Security sectors, the Financial Services sector and the London ecosystem, plus an ability to learn rapidly and often.
    • Experience in public speaking, including presenting and moderating, and efficient networking.
    • Experience in high-impact event and activity curation and management to meet the needs of the ecosystem and scaleups.
    • An existing network in the Fintech & Cyber Security, Financial Services, or VC sectors would be an advantage.
    • Previous experience of working with international markets or an existing relevant network in international markets would be an advantage.
    • Experience in cross-business working and ecosystem development to achieve challenging goals.
