We collaborate with the industry, partners and stakeholders to deliver these plans, aligned to London’s Growth Plan, building L&Ps reputation as the delivery partner of choice.
Purpose of the role
Events and experiences are an important driver of London’s economy and they shape the city’s global brand and reputation. The Major Events Team provides expertise and guidance to help stage major sporting and cultural events in the capital. The Programme Manager contributes to the delivery of London’s international strategy for major events and city experiences. The Manager has responsibility for project managing opportunities to create value from new and forthcoming major events relevant to London & Partners’ strategy, ensuring that London maximises the experiential, reputational and local community benefits of major events.
Key Tasks
- Contribute to the Major Event Pipeline to ensure strong programme calendar in short-, medium- and long-term for the city.
- Support L&P’s contribution to pitch process for contestable events, developing packages of city support to enhance bids.
- Lead on key Major Events accounts, managing multiple external stakeholders and ensuring that our planning, budgeting and delivery maximises the event’s opportunity for London and London’s narrative.
- Maintain relationships with key external stakeholders, private sector event organisers, rights owners, venues and sponsors, ensuring maximum support is gained for relevant major events.
- Represent London & Partners and the Major Events team by hosting guests, networking with partners, sponsors, VIPs and international federations.
- Monitor city and worldwide developments in events, sport and cultural industries to identify opportunities and risks to current and future Major Event activities.
- Provide advice on aspects of event delivery including risk management; maximising social and economic benefits; marketing/PR; sponsorship; brand compliance; business planning and tendering processes.
- Identify potential opportunities to generate VIK to support the delivery of major events.
- Maintenance of accurate records to ensure accurate reporting of projects.
- Manage programme budgets including procurement and invoice process.
- Any other reasonable duties as allocated by the line manager.
You’ll have/bring
- Strong skills in managing complex projects, with a well-organised and flexible approach and excellent attention to detail.
- Experience in positively engaging with internal and external stakeholders, in a confident and articulate manner.
- Ability to prioritise workload, working effectively and independently in a fast-paced environment.
- Effectively contribute to creative and innovative solutions to projects and objectives.
- Confidence to take responsibility and ownership of programmes and tasks, with a continual aim for improvement.
- Help foster collaboration, constructive dialogue and build trust with peers, with a personable and collaborative manner.
- Experience of working with a CRM system, preferably Salesforce.
- Familiarity with Monday.com or similar project/task management system.
- Experience of public events and activations in London involving multiple stakeholders desired but not essential.
- Experiential/event marketing experience desired but not essential.
