Overview
This role supports the finance team by ensuring that all transactions are processed accurately, all income is billed and collected, and payments and expenses are made on time and recorded correctly. The Assistant Finance Officer will assist in the preparation of reports and reconciliations. The role covers the parent company, London & Partners Limited, and its 3 operating subsidiary companies, including markets offices.

Responsibilities
- Sales Ledger
- Help maintain the customer database by updating contact, address, and email details.
- Support non-finance colleagues with queries related to sales invoices.
- Review and check draft sales invoices prepared by others.
- Assist with the debt collection process, including sending out customer reminders and account statements.
- Finance Procedures
- Support the finance team in meeting performance targets and ensuring internal financial procedures are followed correctly.
- Offer guidance to other staff where needed, helping them understand and comply with finance processes.
- Purchase Ledger
- Assist with processing supplier invoices and posting them to the purchase ledger.
- Reconcile supplier statements and respond to supplier queries by phone and email.
- Monitor and manage the supplier invoice inbox daily, ensuring queries are dealt with promptly.
- Maintain accurate supplier records in Microsoft 365 Business Central, ensuring company name, address, VAT number, and other details are correct.
- Help set up new suppliers and carry out credit checks as required.
- Purchase Orders
- Support the purchase quote and order process, ensuring quotes are completed correctly and maintained for use in accruals.
- Monitor submissions to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Expenses
- Assist with checking and processing staff expenses (cash and credit card) across all markets.
- Ensure expense submissions are timely, accurate, and include all necessary receipts and details.
- Other Duties
- Carry out any other reasonable tasks as assigned by your line manager to support the wider finance function.
Qualifications & Experience
- GCSEs (or equivalent) in Maths and English.
- Some experience using Excel is helpful, but not essential – training can be provided.
Skills & Competencies
- Strong interest in finance and a clear motivation to start or continue studying towards an AAT qualification, ideally through an apprenticeship.
- Willingness to learn, take initiative, and be an active part of a supportive finance team.
- Good attention to detail and a careful, thorough approach to financial tasks.
- A positive attitude and readiness to develop new skills in a professional environment.
