Responsible to: Director of Communications and Partnerships

Contract details: Full time. Monday to Friday. 9:00 am to 5 pm. Hybrid working, some mandatory office days required.

London Councils operates in a hybrid working environment as an agile employer, working across its Strategic Directorates.

Interviews: Anticipated to take place during the week commencing 7th September 2026.

Main Responsibilities:

  • You will support the Labour Group, contribute to raising the profile of London Councils and the development of cutting edge policy and strategy.
  • Support the leadership of the Labour Group to contribute to an ambitious cross-party vision for the city.
  • Experience of dealing with politicians at a national and/or local level to act as adviser to the Labour Group.
  • Contribute to our work on behalf of London local government via your support to the Labour Group and London Councils overall.

The Ideal Candidate:

  • A key part of the job will be to liaise with London's Labour Party elected representatives at local, regional and national level.
  • Support the organisation and the Labour Group to build upon the existing partnership working with external stakeholders.
  • Be a key interface between the wider organisation and the Labour Group, building constructive relationships within the organisation.
  • Able to work effectively in a cross-party environment ensuring a collaborative approach to deliver organisational objectives and priorities.
  • Experience of producing written reports, briefings, and draft speeches on policy issues is essential.
  • Must be able to understand and reflect the political position of the Group and represent the Group at external meetings and events with authority and confidence.
