Shape the voice and visual identity of London local government

London Councils is the collective of London's 32 boroughs and the City of London Corporation. We work on behalf of London local government to make London a fairer, more sustainable and more prosperous city.

We're looking for an outstanding Brand, Content and Design Lead to become the guardian of our brand and lead the development of compelling, high-quality content that conveys the vital role of London local government in the lives of citizens.

This is an exciting opportunity for a creative and strategic communications professional who combines excellent design judgement with strong editorial skills and a passion for innovation. You'll oversee our visual identity, tone of voice and content standards, ensuring everything we produce is engaging, accessible and impactful.

You'll also play a key role in helping London Councils embrace new digital approaches, including the effective use of emerging AI tools to improve how we communicate with boroughs, partners, stakeholders and Londoners.

Main Responsibilities

As Brand, Content and Design Lead, you will act as London Councils' brand guardian, ensuring consistency and quality across all communications channels and products.

Working with the rest of the Communications and Public Affairs team and across the organisation, you will commission and produce a wide range of content, from video and graphics to publications, digital campaigns and social media assets. You will provide expert advice on brand, messaging and presentation, helping colleagues communicate complex policy and programme work in engaging, persuasive and accessible ways.

You will manage relationships with designers, videographers, agencies and other suppliers, ensuring projects are delivered on time, on budget and to a high standard.

The role also has an important strategic dimension. You'll contribute to the delivery of our communications strategy, evaluate the effectiveness of our content, and help colleagues explore new approaches to content creation, audience engagement and AI-enabled communications.

  • Lead and champion London Councils' brand, visual identity and tone of voice.
  • Commission and produce engaging content across a range of formats, including video, graphics, publications, marketing materials, social media content and digital communications.
  • Oversee the development of compelling narratives that support London Councils' objectives and priorities.
  • Maintain high standards of quality, accessibility and consistency across all visual and written communications.
  • Manage external suppliers and creative agencies, including commissioning, procurement and project delivery.
  • Monitor and evaluate the performance of communications products and use insights to improve future activity.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues across London Councils and hosted programmes to develop innovative communications approaches.
  • Support the adoption of new digital and AI tools to improve content production, effectiveness and organisational capability.
  • Ensure all communications activity complies with relevant legal, regulatory and organisational requirements.
