Job Overview This is an exciting opportunity to join a fast-paced, challenging and busy specialty to improve understanding and experience in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. These appointments are initially for 6 months and will be based mainly at Northwick Park Hospital. It requires motivated doctors with some Oral & Maxillofacial surgery experience to work with other trainee doctors and consultants to care for the emergency and elective patients within OMFS and Head & Neck. A broad-based knowledge in all aspects of OMFS is beneficial but the weekly timetable can be adjusted considering the experience of the successful candidate and the need of the service. The successful candidate will work as a member of the middle grade team who are both medically and dentally qualified doctors supporting services across the network and participating in the 2nd call rota. Main Duties of the Job The London North West Regional Maxillofacial Unit opened its doors at Northwick Park Hospital in May 2006. This is a Specialist Regional In-Patient Service with dedicated nursing and Critical Care support. In addition, there is a prosthodontic and vibrant regional orthodontic service. There is a state-of-the-art maxillofacial and orthodontic laboratory, administrative wing, and offices for Oral & Maxillofacial consultants, secretaries, and junior doctors. Outpatient facilities are of the latest designs and have PACs associated oral and facial imaging equipment including X-ray and ultrasound imaging and facilities for nasendoscopy. Person Specification Qualifications BDS & MBBS or Equivalent Higher Qualifications Fellowship in Dental Surgery or Membership of the Faculty of Dental Surgery or equivalent MFDS, MJDF, IMRCS, MDS Registration Full Registration with General Medical Council (GMC) and/or General Dental Council (GDC) Specialty / Sub Specialty Demonstrable evidence of specialist interest in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery Broad based experience in general Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery The Trust is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people, and adults at risk and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.
