Education/Qualifications

  • Registered Midwife
  • First level degree in related healthcare discipline or substantial experiential equivalence
  • Evidence of continual professional development
  • Completion of relevant cultural safety training in relation to anti-racism, LGBT+ issues, and/or disability issues

Desirable criteria

  • Professional Midwifery Advocate
  • Leadership qualifications and/or experience
  • Post-graduate management/leadership qualification or equivalent level of knowledge gained through experience

Knowledge & Experience

  • Substantial post-registration experience
  • Experience working with a diverse group of women
  • Evidence of multidisciplinary working
  • Good understanding of MBRACE-UK report
  • In-depth understanding of the national maternity safety agenda
  • Up-to-date and evidence-based knowledge of current professional issues related to marginalized women and health inequalities
  • Up-to-date and evidence-based knowledge of current clinical and professional issues

Desirable criteria

  • In-depth understanding of cultural awareness, cultural competency, and unconscious bias
  • Experience delivering support and parent education/preparation programmes
