Education/Qualifications

  • Registered Midwife
  • Evidence of continual professional development
  • Educated to a minimum of higher diploma/degree level or able to demonstrate equivalent experience
  • Supervisor/Assessor training or Teaching/mentorship qualification ENB998/997 or equivalent

Desirable criteria

  • Recognised leadership course/qualification

Knowledge & Experience

Essential criteria

  • Recent clinical experience
  • Experience facilitating training sessions
  • Experience of clinical audits
  • Sound knowledge of all aspects of midwifery practice
  • Extensive experience as a clinical midwife with intrapartum experience
  • Knowledge of guidelines and research related to perineal/labial tearing and OASI risk factors
  • Understanding of safeguarding issues
  • Awareness of strategic developments in midwifery

Desirable criteria

  • Management of pelvic health in pregnancy and postnatally
  • Interest or experience in colorectal health
  • Budget management experience
  • Audit and project management experience
  • Experience in change management and Quality Improvement methodologies
