Since we took over on the East Coast mainline, we\’ve been changing the face of rail travel. Our new Azuma train has brought faster journey times, more space and greater reliability. Our exciting plans to embrace new ideas, experiences, backgrounds and ambitions make this the ideal time to join.

Bringing passion. Being bold. Always caring. Owning it. They\’re the values that make us LNER.

Are you on board?

As Revenue Manager, you\’ll play a pivotal role in shaping the pricing strategy for up to 4 million journeys each year, directly influencing revenue delivery. You\’ll take ownership of a key portfolio of routes and markets, driving revenue growth by expertly balancing ticket yield, passenger volume, and capacity.

Using data-driven insights, strategic thinking, and a deep understanding of customer demand, you\’ll lead the development and execution of innovative Revenue Management strategies. Your decisions will optimise pricing, availability, and inventory to not only maximise revenue but also enhance the customer experience by managing crowding levels effectively.

This role is ideal for a commercially minded individual with a passion for performance analysis and cross-functional collaboration. You\’ll work closely with colleagues across Commercial, Marketing, Operations, and Data teams, backed by powerful Revenue Management tools, to ensure that every journey delivers optimal value for both the business and our passengers.

Within this role you\’ll also be involved in;

  • Own and manage a portfolio of trains/markets to deliver revenue growth in line with budget and stretch targets.
  • Optimise pricing and seat availability using demand and supply data to maximise yield, grow volume, and minimise overcrowding.
  • Interpret data from the Revenue Management System, reservations, competitor monitoring, and Lennon to identify revenue opportunities and risks — making informed recommendations to support key business decisions.
  • Monitor market trends, events, and exceptional situations to identify and act on short-term revenue opportunities, including managing yield during peak times and driving volume off-peak.
  • Reduce dilution and spoilage to maximise revenue, while tracking performance against targets.
  • Develop and communicate clear revenue strategies and plans, continuously reviewing and refining them to drive improvement.
  • Champion continuous improvement through enhanced forecasting accuracy, system optimisation, and proactive revenue generation.
  • Collaborate closely with the wider Revenue Management team to align strategies and ensure revenue decisions support overall business goals.
  • Share insights and recommendations with cross-functional teams (e.g., Marketing, Retail, Catering, Stations, On-board teams) to inform planning, resource allocation, and promotional activity.
  • Create and develop engaging ways to present performance data and support wider business users in using insights to drive profit and performance.
  • Build commercial awareness and understanding of Revenue Management across the business to improve decision-making and revenue focus.
  • Support new system development by specifying requirements, undertaking user testing, and adapting approaches in line with evolving capabilities.
  • Work cross-functionally and spend time in the field to maintain a deep understanding of market dynamics and customer behaviour.
  • Provide back-up support for key roles and processes during periods of leave, disruption, or high workload, ensuring continuity of service.

What you\’ll need:

  • Commercial mindset: Experience in a revenue management or highly commercially focused role is desirable. If you\’re a recent graduate, we\’d be looking for a strong academic background in a numerate subject.
  • Analytical excellence: Highly numerate with the ability to analyse large and complex datasets to extract meaningful insights that drive decision-making.
  • Data storytelling: Confident in presenting and communicating numerical information clearly and persuasively to a variety of audiences.
  • Revenue Management knowledge: A good understanding of Revenue Management principles and their commercial application.
  • Strategic and detail-focused: Capable of balancing detailed, hands-on data work with broader strategic market analysis
  • Advanced Excel skills: Comfortable manipulating large spreadsheets and building tools to support revenue decisions.
  • Commercial acumen: Strong awareness of business drivers and the ability to link data insights to revenue performance.

What you\’ll get:

  • Free travel on LNER + 75% off other companies\’ tickets (for you & dependents)
  • Discounted international train tickets (after one year\’s service)
  • 50% discount on LNER tickets for friends & family
  • Annual cycle to work schemes
  • Discount, savings and cashback scheme from top retailers
  • Health & wellbeing schemes and discounts
  • Host of training opportunities to help further your career
  • Rewards & awards to recognise when you shine
