The role will focus on business development across institutional capital and intermediaries that expands market share, increases awareness and adoption of HKEX offerings, and deepens client relationships. The successful candidate will originate, advance and close a pipeline of opportunities that support growth objectives, identify and communicate market trends, client needs, and product development opportunities that support longer-term platform growth. Working closely with global colleagues, the role will partner with internal stakeholders to stay on top of HKEX developments and priorities while delivering a coordinated, best‑in‑class, client engagement in the U.K. and Continental Europe, positioning HKEX as a trusted partner to clients’ long‑term success. Given time zone differences to Asia, the successful candidate will be a self‑starter, strong communicator and able to act as a subject matter expert within the region and client base.
Job Duties
- Originate, develop, and grow new and existing client relationships to support growth objectives.
- Design and execute targeted client engagement strategies and campaigns that drive awareness, education, and sustained adoption of HKEX markets, products, and services.
- Build and expand coverage of targeted institutional buy‑side and sell‑side segments, including:
- U.K. and European insurance companies and pension funds
- Asset owners, asset managers, long‑only and hedge funds
- Senior leadership and sales, trading, and structuring teams within defined global and investment banks.
- Translate education‑led engagement into outcomes such as market participation, connectivity, listings, index usage, derivatives adoption, and new product ideas that expand addressable market and long‑term growth.
- Participate in and speak at HKEX and non‑HKEX events, and drive client engagement through roundtables, industry conferences, and other forums.
- Develop European‑focused marketing content with stakeholders, ensuring relevance, regulatory compliance, and alignment with HKEX’s global messaging and standards.
- Capture and communicate client feedback and market insights to internal stakeholders, contributing to product development and strategic planning.
- Apply professional sales and relationship‑management discipline, including timely follow‑ups, CRM documentation, pipeline tracking, and collaboration with internal partners.
- Participate in regular coordination calls with Asia‑, US‑ and Europe‑based colleagues, including outside normal business hours.
- Travel within the U.K. and Europe, and potentially to Hong Kong as required.
Required Knowledge and Level of Experience
- Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Business, Finance, Economics, or related disciplines
- Understanding of global and Asia equity and derivatives markets, incl. Hong Kong and Chinese Mainland
- Familiarity with cross‑border market access frameworks (e.g., Stock Connect, Bond Connect)
- Understanding of institutional client segments (asset owners, asset managers, hedge funds, trading desks) and their investment/trading structures
- Functional knowledge of listed derivatives, electronic trading, QIS, delta one, and inter‑dealer brokerage ecosystems
- Proficiency in tools and systems: PowerPoint, Excel, Bloomberg, CRM platforms
