The London Metal Exchange is the world centre for industrial metals trading. Most of the world’s non-ferrous metals business is conducted on the LME and the metals community uses the LME, a member of HKEX Group, as a venue to transfer or take on price risk, as a physical market of last resort and as the provider of transparent global reference prices.
The Chief of Staff team plays a central role within the CEO office and the wider organisation, providing comprehensive support to the CEO across all company activities, priorities (strategic and operational), and projects. It is also responsible for supporting the CEO with top level liaison with HKEX and LME Clear, internal reporting to HKEX and the LME Board, senior stakeholder engagement and external relationships with members and clients, and any ad-hoc project work that emerges under the management of the CEO.
This role works across the CEO Office, delivering high quality support to the Chief of Staff, and with them, to the CEO, across all priorities, ensuring clarity of strategic aims, strong delivery and accurate reporting.
Overall purpose of role: The AVP within CEO Office will be responsible for supporting the Chief of Staff across all CEO projects, priorities, and reporting. This will include contributing to CEO Office operations including reporting, providing data and analysis for presentations and reports, creating presentations, risk mapping and other areas that ensure support the CEO office in delivering its objectives. The CEO Office Analyst will support the Chief of Staff in building strong relationships across the HKEX Group, including QME, liaising regularly with HKEX and QME staff to ensure joined up communications and clear prioritisation.
Responsibilities
- Work closely with the Chief of Staff to deliver against all priorities, including strategy, reporting, relationships, and ad hoc projects
- Retain a high-level overview of all CEO office – and broader company – strategic and other priorities, following up when required and ensuring successful delivery
- Assist the Chief of Staff in the coordination and delivery of all LME Group CEO Office department reporting, including CEO dashboards to the Boards, the annual sustainability reporting and quarterly business reporting
- Provide support for written documents presented to Boards, senior management or externally across the CEO Office portfolio where required
- Support delivery across all CEO Office reporting both internally at the LME, to HKEX, and for external events
- Build relationships with all LME departments as appropriate to define and deliver against the LME’s strategy. Support the Chief of Staff in working with internal stakeholders to ensure strong communication
- Build external contacts and represent the LME externally at events or conferences
- Undertake any ad hoc project requests as required in the Chief of Staff function within the LME
Academic and professional qualifications required
- Degree educated
Required knowledge and level of experience
- Knowledge of financial markets and products, with prior experience in commodities / trading / regulated entities / strategy
- Business acumen and good understanding of business needs in the context of short and long term objectives; ability to think holistically and strategically about the business
- Ability to speak Cantonese and/or Mandarin (useful, but not essential)
- High level of interest in learning new areas of industry / business / strategy
