Job Purpose Summary: Support the inspection, maintenance, condition reporting, diagnosis and repair of a varied fleet of vehicles and equipment including cars, vans, buses, and trucks, ensuring all vehicles are safe, legal, and reliable for operation, providing both scheduled planned maintenance and defect repairs. The Technician will be expected to work to a high standard and demonstrate technical competence through a minimum of a Level 2 qualification in Vehicle Maintenance Repair, or equivalent. Work hours: 37 hours per week, working Monday to Thursday 08:30-16:30 and Friday 08:30-16:00.
Knowledge, Skills, Experience and Qualifications:
- Be able to inspect, service, maintain and repair a varied fleet of vehicles and equipment.
- Minimum Level II Technician with a background of vehicle servicing.
- Current full UK driving licence.
- Current LGV/PCV driving licence would be desirable but is not essential.
- Diagnostic experience is desirable but not essential.
- Candidates must have a 5-year checkable work history.
- Candidates must be able to demonstrate knowledge and skill level at interview.

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
- Inspect and test vehicles and plant to LLA’s standards and criteria, in accordance with relevant legislation as directed by the Workshop Supervisor.
- Diagnose faults and repairs relating to all vehicles and plant including that necessary to pass MOT Tests and provide condition and maintenance reports.
- Identify and report all potential faults or non-compliance affecting operational and roadworthiness, notifying supervision accordingly.
- Service and repair vehicles and plant using appropriate equipment and other resources in a proper and safe manner in accordance with LLAOL’s safe systems of work.
- Interpret and implement technical service data and manufacturer’s instructions.
- Complete job cards, utilising a Computerised Asset Management System and manual systems as applicable.
- Conduct off site inspections, roadside assistance and recovery of defective or damaged vehicles, using suitable equipment.
- Complete and verify all documentation as defined within the Motor Transport operational policies and procedures.
- Recommend improvements or modifications that may be considered necessary to improve the vehicles' economic and safe operation.

You will be able to work independently and as part of a team, communicate effectively with colleagues and stakeholders, and maintain a customer-focused approach while delivering high standards of service. You should be adaptable, willing to learn new skills, and committed to achieving KPI targets, while working within a small team. Must be well organised and able to work methodically within defined processes. Excellent attention to detail. Have a good understanding of current Health, Safety and Environmental legislation, including the use and storage of various COSHH chemicals. Work well independently and as part of a team. The nature of the operation demands an adaptable person willing to learn and take on unfamiliar tasks working on a varied fleet, as well as being keen to assist in the development of both the department and operation as a whole.
