Strategy and Communications sits at the centre of the organisation, bringing together several teams with organisation‑wide remits and mutual collaboration opportunities. The work of the directorate’s teams includes delivery of major events, designing and leading public affairs or marketing campaigns, providing data, evidence and analysis, leading cross‑organisational programmes, to making sure we plan for and can respond to emerging events or emergencies in our city.
About the Role
We’re looking for a senior marketer to lead our team of campaign experts and deliver campaigns that help build a better London for everyone. The role is based at City Hall and the Marketing Campaigns team leads integrated campaigns and communications interventions that help make London greener, safer, fairer and support London’s growth. You will lead a team of passionate communications experts to design and deliver campaigns tackling priority issues for Londoners such as public safety, accessible housing, violence against women and girls, rough sleeping, equality, diversity and social integration, and economic prosperity. This role also oversees the development and delivery of all integrated marketing campaigns, supports flagship events such as London’s NYE fireworks, and contributes to brand campaigns that celebrate London’s values and diversity.
Responsibilities
- Lead a team of dedicated campaign managers and marketing experts to drive forward the annual marketing plan.
- Represent marketing across the Greater London Authority and provide communications expertise to a variety of stakeholders.
- Collaborate with External Relations, Press, Digital Communications and Strategic Communications teams to develop and deliver integrated campaigns.
- Work with policy teams, the Mayor’s Office, Transport for London and other partners to ensure efforts are built on robust insight and coordinated with key partners.
- Direct relationships with external creative, research and media buying agencies to maximise value and impact.
Skills, Knowledge and Experience
- Significant experience leading the planning and delivery of campaigns for a complex organisation, including managing implementation and budget alignment.
- Strong track record of delivering social marketing initiatives and policy/issue‑based campaigns, behaviour change and building marketing propositions for complex initiatives.
- Extensive experience working with external partners and agencies, including pro bono partnerships to drive impact.
- In‑depth knowledge of working in a complex political, high‑profile organisation at a senior level to manage or supervise delivery of cross‑organisational projects.
- Senior management experience and a strong track record of leading multi‑disciplinary teams providing professional, strategic advice on marketing and communications campaigns.

GLA staff are hybrid working up to 3 days a week in our offices and remotely, depending on the role. In addition to a good salary package, you will be paid every four weeks, providing frequent salary payments.
