Reporting to the Fraud Manager, the primary role will involve the identification, investigation and repudiation of suspected fraudulent personal and commercial motor insurance claims. Assistance with application fraud will also be required.
Main Responsibilities:- Follow the Claims Validation Referral Process and act as a referral point for claims handlers
- Identify and investigate suspected fraud cases in accordance with the GDPR/Data Protection Act and company best practice
- Handle caseload of suspect claims from identification to repudiation/validation
- Conduct compliant recorded telephone interviews with policyholders, claimants and other interested parties
- Instruct external enquiry agents and solicitors and act on intelligence/evidence appropriately
- Assist in developing fraud management tools and risk identification
- Maintain good working relations and secure/compliant data exchange with external parties, including third party administrators, brokers/intermediaries, investigators, law enforcement agencies, industry data providers and other anti-fraud bodies
- Provide support to Underwriters to address application fraud
- Assist with internal and external audits to maintain a high standard of fraud detection and prevention
- Comply with company practices, procedures and processes
- Represent the company at external events
- Attend meetings with relevant stakeholders (internal and external)
- Sound knowledge of motor insurance products (commercial and personal lines) and policy wordings
- Fully conversant with the Data Protection Act (2018), the Fraud Act (2006)
- Working knowledge of Consumer Insurance (Disclosure and Representations) Act (2012) and the Insurance Act (2015)
- Ability to identify areas of risk and obtain the required evidence to enable successful repudiation
- Good understanding of the Civil Procedure Rules and the Official Injury Claims Portal process
- Comprehensive knowledge and application of data mining tools and industry databases
- Ability to negotiate economic settlement of claims
- Well informed of industry anti-fraud initiatives, developing trends and strategies, including working with the Insurance Fraud Bureau
- Much of the work will be on an individual basis, but must be a team player and have a positive attitude to new challenges
- Inquisitive mind and ability to professionally handle confrontation
- Discreet and compliant with sensitive and confidential data
- Accurate with robust attention to detail
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Willingness to develop skills and identify appropriate sources of learning
