The Role

We are recruiting for 12 month FTC Marketing Manager and Senior Marketing Manager roles to provide maternity cover and drive the growth of Howden’s Marine, Cargo & Logistics and Aviation practices. The successful candidates will play a key role in helping to achieve the practices’ strategic objectives by developing and implementing a diverse range of marketing campaigns and collateral to engage with clients, the media, the industry and employees, to build brand awareness and drive sales. They will work closely with other members of the marketing team, senior stakeholders in the broking and claims teams, our in-house creative agency, suppliers, partners and internal stakeholders.

Howden’s marketing team plays an integral role in the business’ overall strategy, helping to position Howden as a market leading insurance broker. Working in the marketing team is a fast-paced, fun and dynamic environment and will suit someone who likes to be in the mix. Our team culture is very important to us. We are predominantly an office-based team, as we believe this is the best setting to work efficiently, support collaboration and build relationships. What you’ll do

  • Work with practice leaders, growth execution and marketing team to shape the marketing strategy and lead the delivery of activity.
  • Manage the production and execution of marketing activity across multiple channels including digital, social, email, content creation, events, video, affinity marketing and traditional media.
  • Manage marketing budgets, timelines and resources effectively to ensure campaigns are delivered on time and within budget.
  • Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders including clients, affinity partners and industry contacts.
  • Track the success of campaigns, regularly reviewing and understanding the impact of marketing activities, and making suggestions to improve.
  • Produce marketing collateral, as well as research, copywriting and liaising with external agencies to include designers and print suppliers.
  • Coordinate and produce engaging content for the division, including writing, editing and governing client communication such as knowledge articles, news announcements, podcasts, videos and email campaigns.
  • Ensure the Howden brand is applied effectively and consistently across the division.

Who we’re looking for

  • Excellent communication skills, both interpersonal and written.
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills with the ability to work with a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Execution focused, with an organised and structured approach to projects and the ability to multi-task, even under pressure.
  • A collaborative and agile approach.
  • A ‘can-do’ attitude, positive mind-set and a self-starter way of thinking.
  • Commercial acumen and ability to prioritise.
  • Awareness of design process and the software they use, e.g. InDesign, Photoshop.
  • Experience of website management, including previous use of a content management system (CMS), Google Analytics and SEO.
  • Understanding of social media best practice and community management.
  • Ability to research and translate insurance and industry information into creative marketing concepts.
  • This role would suit someone with a strong marketing background and experience.
  • Previous experience in the aviation, marine, financial services or insurance sectors would be advantageous but not essential.
