We’re seeking a strategic, dynamic and experienced Internal Communications and Engagement Director to elevate how we connect and inspire our team at Howden Re. Crafting compelling messaging to keep our people feeling informed, valued and connected, you’ll play a central role in fostering engagement and collaboration; providing opportunities for our team to develop their Howden IQ, and building our global communications and one business approach.

  • Design and deliver internal communications that connect, inspire, and engage colleagues across the global Howden Re and Howden network.
  • Develop and execute a comprehensive global internal communications strategy aligned with our business goals and company culture.
  • Own the calendar for internal communications, email, intranet, town hall meetings, executive leadership team meetings etc., aligning with the external team to promote external campaigns, events and opportunities.
  • Own the messaging, story, and internal marketing collateral for business-wide engagement and information – everything from new joiner presentations to townhall agendas and slides.
  • Partner with HR, leadership, and Howden group communications teams to build an employee engagement strategy encompassing and developing the various talent, culture and communication initiatives already underway (eg, Spotlight, Community Impact, D&I, Flight Awards and Howden’s Respect network of ERGs), and masterminding new initiatives that foster transparency, trust and two-way dialogue across teams and regions.
  • Lead the development and implementation of internal communications platforms for Howden Re, including Howden World and Viva Engage, working closely with Howden group teams.
  • A do-er and a team-player, an enthusiastic multitasker with a strong desire to get stuck in, build, innovate and impact.
  • An outstanding communicator, with exceptional copywriting, editing and storytelling skills, in addition to everything you need to build compelling slides and presentations.
  • Experience working in communications, engagement and internal events for global organisations with multiple time zones, cultures and geographies.
  • Ability to develop and execute creative and engaging communication and engagement strategy not only to support Howden Re, but to ensure we’re collaborating, communicating and aligned with the various other comms, change and business teams across the Howden group.
  • Experience with digital communication tools and platforms (eg intranet platforms, CRM, Workplace/Viva Engage).
  • The ability to collaborate, build relationships and engage with people at all levels of the organisation and with a wide variety of stakeholders, including senior leaders, technical subject matter experts, and global colleagues.

A career that you define. At Howden, we value diversity – there is no one Howden type. Instead, we’re looking for individuals who share the same values as us:

  • Our successes have all come from someone brave enough to try something new.
  • We support each other in the small everyday moments and the bigger challenges.
  • We are determined to make a positive difference at work and beyond.

We're committed to providing reasonable accommodations at Howden to ensure that our positions align well with your needs. Besides the usual adjustments such as software, IT, and office setups, we can also accommodate other changes such as flexible hours or hybrid working.
