The Ryan Specialty Underwriting Internship Program is a hands-on, immersive summer experience working within one of 6 designated underwriting teams in our London operation. Our program provides interns with meaningful exposure to the specialty insurance industry while developing professional skills through real-world projects, networking opportunities, and mentorship.

What will your job entail?
- Gain foundational knowledge of Ryan Specialty’s business model, products, and services
- Participate in hands-on projects that contribute to your assigned team’s goals
- Collaborate with leaders, teammates, and fellow interns in a professional, growth-oriented environment
- Conduct research, analyse data, and support day-to-day operations within your business unit
- Engage in learning sessions, workshops, and department overviews across the organisation
- Participate in networking opportunities and intern events
- Present a capstone or end-of-program deliverable showcasing your experience and insights

Duration: This is a full-time, paid summer internship starting Monday the 29th June for 8 weeks until Friday 21st August. You will be required to be available for the full duration.
Person Specification – Education and Qualifications:
- Excellent academic record; A 2.1 degree; Passed LPC or full SQE (parts 1 and 2).
- Enthusiastic at all times, even under pressure.
- Ability to quickly assimilate a wealth of information and identify the main issues.
- Proactive to question and challenge or to put forward practical solutions and ideas that are well thought through.
- Meticulous attention to detail.
- Strong, productive relationships with colleagues as well as clients; interpersonal skills are paramount.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, able to tailor messages to audiences.
- Ambitious, driven, inquisitive, resilient to feedback and adapt to changing environments.
Experience: None required. Any work experience or internships gained within a legal or insurance environment would be useful, however not essential.
What you need to succeed:
- Recent graduates with a 2:1 or equivalent in a numerate degree (predicted or achieved).
- Creative, innovative, agile, digital-oriented, keen to build sustainable and collaborative networks.
- Great communication skills, both oral and written.
- Passion and action-oriented with an eye for translating complex data-driven analytics to robust business decisions.
- Permanent residency in the UK.
What qualification will you gain: Level 4 Insurance Professional apprenticeship standard; stepping stone to the CII diploma qualification.
