How does this role contribute to our collective success?

This role contributes to AXIS’ collective success through maintaining and promoting a market leading claims service to support clients’ complex risks and challenges and in so doing to support the retention and acquisition of business.

What will you do in this role?

  • Handling Marine claims allocated to you, under the supervision of more senior claims handlers.
  • Working closely with clients, external legal advisors, market leaders, brokers and TPA service providers ensuring a premier claims service to clients is maintained.
  • Engagement with stakeholders, including underwriters, actuaries and operations in relation to claims and management information.

You may also be required to take on additional duties, responsibilities and activities appropriate to the nature of this role.

What you need to have:

  • Educated to A-levels or an equivalent apprenticeship.
  • Experience with Excel, Word and PowerPoint preferable.
  • Ability to present information in a clear and concise fashion relevant to the audience.
  • Numerate, analytical/solution focused and able to work to a deadline.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build effective relationships.
  • Ability to multitask and manage conflicting priorities to tight timelines.
  • Effective organisation and planning.

What we prefer you to have:

  • 1-3 years’ previous experience working within a London market Insurer or broker an advantage but not essential.

Team: Casualty Treaty Underwriting

The Role

We are seeking an Underwriting Administrator to join our Casualty Treaty team, providing high‑quality administrative and operational support to underwriters. This role is a vital part of ensuring the underwriting function runs smoothly, accurately, and in line with internal processes and regulatory requirements.

This is a dedicated administration role, well suited to someone who enjoys structured, process‑driven work, takes pride in accuracy, and wants to build a strong and stable career in insurance operations and underwriting support, rather than moving into an underwriting role itself.

Key Responsibilities

  • Entering and maintaining risk and policy data accurately across underwriting systems
  • Producing, maintaining, and updating underwriting files in line with guidelines and workflows
  • Supporting underwriting teams by ensuring documentation and records are complete and up to date
  • Monitoring and maintaining operational, compliance, and financial controls (e.g. SOX, Aged Debt reports)
  • Assisting with income monitoring, contract signings, and chasing late payments where required
  • Ensuring underwriting systems and established processes are consistently followed
  • Providing a professional, responsive administrative service to multiple stakeholders

Skills & Experience

This role would suit candidates with strong administrative, coordination, or insurance support experience.

  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Word
  • Ability to manage deadlines, prioritise tasks, and work methodically
