The Role

A key liaison between the client and the insurer for day to day claims administration, ensuring claims are administered in line with the expected standards, regulatory requirements and that an excellent service level is maintained.

What you'll do

  • Manage and prioritise your workload, supporting senior team members while gradually taking on more independent responsibility.
  • Lead assigned claims projects and contribute to wider team initiatives.
  • Build strong relationships with insurers, clients, and internal stakeholders to support smooth claims handling.
  • Prepare, present, and negotiate claims with insurers, ensuring clear documentation, accurate data, and timely updates for all parties.
  • Maintain delegated authority contracts and ensure all activity meets compliance, regulatory, and internal standards.
  • Keep clients informed throughout the claims process, resolving queries and ensuring a high‑quality service experience.
  • Maintain accurate records, claims data, and management information to support reporting and internal processes.
  • Collaborate with shared services teams and escalate issues appropriately.
  • Stay up to date with industry, legal, and regulatory developments, actively developing your technical knowledge and coverage analysis skills.
  • Represent the team in client and insurer meetings, helping to strengthen long‑term relationships.

Who we're looking for

  • A solid grasp of insurance fundamentals and an interest in the London market.
  • Strong communication skills — written, verbal, and face‑to‑face.
  • Confidence working with data, documentation, and systems.
  • The ability to build positive, sustainable relationships with clients, insurers, and colleagues.
  • Strong organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise and meet deadlines.
  • A calm, resilient approach when handling pressure or change.
  • Good analytical judgement and commercial awareness.
  • A collaborative, team‑focused mindset paired with the initiative to work independently.
  • A willingness to develop your technical knowledge, including emerging tools and technology.

A career that you define. At Howden, we value diversity – there is no one Howden type. Instead, we’re looking for individuals who share the same values as us:

  • Our successes have all come from someone brave enough to try something new.
  • We support each other in the small everyday moments and the bigger challenges.
  • We are determined to make a positive difference at work and beyond.
