Our Drivers are responsible for providing a professional service that supports our clients and service users. This includes safe home-to-school transport, operating passenger lifts, and assisting Passenger Assistants as required. To qualify, you must hold a Private Hire Driver badge from the local authority. We will support you through this process if successful.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate the vehicle safely, adhering to local road restrictions and speed limits.
  • Report any fines or tickets to the office promptly.
  • Perform mandatory vehicle checks each time the vehicle is used; report any defects.
  • Secure all passengers and wheelchair users correctly using appropriate safety equipment.
  • Ensure the vehicle has sufficient fuel for each journey, refueling as needed.
  • Keep the vehicle clean inside and out regularly, at least weekly.
  • Remove and replace seating as required.
  • Park the vehicle correctly in the depot, in pre-allocated bays where possible.
  • Operate the passenger lift and other equipment safely to assist passengers entering and exiting.
  • Communicate patiently and informatively with passengers and clients.
  • Assist the Passenger Assistant with their duties as needed.

Skills, Knowledge, and Expertise

  • Understanding of working with individuals with disabilities.
  • Patience and a level-headed attitude in service delivery.
  • Full unrestricted car driving license (auto restrictions acceptable) with no more than 3 penalty points.
  • Possession of a Private Hire License from the relevant local authority (desirable).
  • At least two years of driving experience.
  • Willingness to undergo a DBS check.
