Pharmacy Technicians are responsible for ensuring the safety and quality of pharmaceutical product preparation and release. They gather information, prepare products, distribute products, and manage inventory control. They are also responsible for transcribing verbal orders and transferring prescriptions in the retail pharmacies.

Regular Part-Time

Rate of pay: $31.81 per hour - $34.54 per hour

Hours of work: No guarantee of hours

Qualifications

  • Successful completion of an accredited Pharmacy Technician Diploma Program
  • Registration as a Pharmacy Technician with the Ontario College of Pharmacists
  • One (1) year recent hospital pharmacy experience (including unit dose and IV admixture) and/or community pharmacy experience preferred
  • Recent experience with Pharmacy Information Systems, Cerner and/or Kroll system preferred
  • Knowledge and recent experience of drug insurance plans (including Trillium and other Ministry of Health programs, inventory management and billing/reconciliation functions) preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to work with minimal supervision and initiative to work independently
  • Demonstrated excellent communication and customer service skills
  • Demonstrated ability to interact effectively with patients and other health care professionals as an effective team member
  • Demonstrated advanced accuracy and attention to detail are essential, particularly in regard to computer order entry, mathematical calculations, IV admixture, compounding and prescription filling
  • Demonstrated ability to remain resilient and adaptable to change in a fast-paced environment
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and commitment to the principles of patient and family centered care
  • Demonstrated practice and commitment to LHSC's vision, purpose and values
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and commitment to patient and staff safety at LHSC
  • Demonstrated ability to attend work on a regular basis
