The Housing and Land directorate is responsible for the Mayor’s plans to deliver new and improved homes and strong communities. Working closely with boroughs and partners, we manage the Mayor’s housing investment programmes and land and property assets to support the building of affordable homes, job creation and regeneration.
About the team: The New Homes Accelerator Team is a new team in the Investment and Operations Unit in the Housing and Land directorate. The Government’s New Homes Accelerator (NHA) is a programme established by the Ministry for Housing, Communities and Local Government (MHCLG) to speed up the delivery of large-scale housing developments that have stalled. The NHA aims to increase the delivery of homes by the end of this Parliament (2029). Since the NHA was established, MHCLG, GLA and London Councils officers have worked in partnership to analyse London’s stalled sites and identify suitable interventions to accelerate their delivery. In early 2026, we took this to the next level by establishing the NHA LDN team, to take a more proactive, London-led role, to identify stalled housing sites and find practical ways to get them moving again.
About the role: As Senior Project Officer, you will play a critical role in underpinning the NHA LDN programme through high-quality data management, analysis, and project management support. Reporting into a Project Manager, you will manage core systems, ensure robust data processes, and provide analytical insight to inform decision-making and unlock housing delivery. You will help ensure that the programme’s evidence base is accurate, up to date, and actionable—supporting colleagues and senior stakeholders across the GLA, Government, and partner organisations.
What your day will look like: You will support the core functions of NHA LDN, in providing the data management, analysis, and system management to maintain an effective and evidence-led programme. This will include:
- Managing and maintaining NHA LDN systems, ensuring data integrity, consistency and accessibility across the programme.
- Analysing complex datasets to generate insights that inform prioritisation, interventions and programme strategy.
- Developing dashboards, reports and briefings for internal and external stakeholders, including senior leadership forums.
- Undertaking research and analysis to support the development of solutions to unblock housing delivery.
- Working collaboratively with GLA teams, boroughs, Homes England and Government to align data, share intelligence and improve processes.
- Identifying opportunities to improve data systems, tools and workflows to enhance programme effectiveness.
Skills, knowledge and experience: To be considered for the role you must demonstrate:
- Technical and professional skills: Strong experience managing databases, systems or datasets, including data cleaning, validation and governance; ability to analyse complex information and present clear, evidence-based insights to a range of audiences; experience producing high-quality reports, dashboards or briefings to support decision‑making; understanding of housing, regeneration, or infrastructure delivery contexts (desirable but not essential).
- Research and analysis (Level 3): Gather, interpret and present data from multiple sources to generate meaningful insights; apply analytical thinking to support strategic decision‑making.
- Planning and organising (Level 2–3): Manage competing priorities, maintain accurate records and meet deadlines; ensure systems and processes are efficient, robust and well‑managed.
- Communicating and influencing (Level 2–3): Present complex information clearly to both technical and non‑technical audiences; contribute to effective communication across teams and stakeholders.
- Building and managing relationships (Level 2–3): Work collaboratively with internal teams and external partners; support a coordinated, consistent approach across organisations.
- Problem solving (Level 2–3): Identify issues in data, systems or delivery and propose practical solutions; proactively improve processes and ways of working.
- Organisational awareness (Level 2): Understand the wider policy and political context in which the GLA operates; align work with Mayoral priorities and programme objectives.
The GLA Competency Framework Guidelines further detailing each competency and the different level indicators can be found here: GLA Competency Framework.
This role is based at London Fire Brigade’s Head Office (Union Street SE1 0LL).

Secondments: If you are a GLA employee applying for an internal fixed‑term position, as an internal secondment opportunity, you must ensure you satisfy the following secondment policy criteria listed below before applying:
- On a permanent contract or a fixed term contract where the time left on the contract at the point at which you apply for secondment is longer than the secondment period;
- Successfully completed your probation period and are performing to the required standard for your current role; and
- At least 18 months service with the GLA.
If you do meet the criteria listed above, you will need to complete the Approval for secondment application form and gain line manager approval, before emailing the fully completed form to the Resourcing Assistant who is managing the vacancy. This form must be received by the closing date of the vacancy. Failure to provide this form will mean your application cannot be progressed.
Please note the requirement to start as soon as possible in the new year and clear this with your line-manager. If you are unable to satisfy all of the criteria, unfortunately, you are not eligible to apply for this vacancy as an internal secondment.
For further information, please see Secondment Policy and Procedure.
IMPORTANT: If you are a current GLA employee on a fixed-term contract, which is due to end BEFORE the end date of this vacancy, you DO NOT NEED to complete the Approval for secondment application form as it is not a secondment. If you are successful in securing this secondment opportunity, you will need to be released from your existing role, so please ensure that you make your line manager aware of your application.
The GLA is proud to be a Level 2: Disability Confident employer. We are committed to becoming a more inclusive and accessible organisation, and creating a truly inclusive and accessible workplace and culture for our disabled staff.
