The Mayor of London has important responsibilities for policing and safety in the capital, including overseeing the Metropolitan Police to make sure it provides an efficient and effective service for Londoners; investing in crime prevention activities; commissioning services to support victims of crime; and bringing together partners to tackle complex safety issues and their underlying causes.
MOPAC is headed by the Mayor of London, and is responsible for policing in the capital, outside the City of London. Kaya Comer-Schwartz is London’s Deputy Mayor for Policing and Crime.
The London Policing Board assists the Mayor in holding the Commissioner of the Metropolitan Police Service to account on behalf of Londoners. MOPAC sets the direction and budget for the Metropolitan Police Service on behalf of the Mayor.
